Government to reduce length of isolation
We are aware that the government has today issued an additional update with reference to the length of time that individuals need to self-isolate: from 14 to 10 days and including those who are currently self-isolating.
As is often the case, the announcement comes on a Friday and with no warning, leaving us little or no time to act and prepare in the way we would have liked. The change was initially picked up on the BBC link covering the story (see below).
I am sure you yourselves would rather not have found out via this route and in truth this does represent a rather unwelcome addition to staff workload on a Friday afternoon and during the weekend. However, I am writing to you to let you know that this means some groups of students will now be asked to return on a different date than originally planned.
- Year 10 students, previously due to return on Tuesday 15th December, can now return to school on Monday (14th December)
- The year 7 class who were recently asked to self-isolate along with a small number of others can now return to school on Tuesday 15th December
- There may be others for whom the return date has changed and we are currently checking the lists with a view to contacting those people.
In the interim, our dedicated Covid-19 email response remains open should you have any individual queries and as usual we will do our best to answer these promptly over the weekend.
Despite the difficulties this may pose, we look forward to seeing the students back at Winterbourne for the last few days of term.
